The Allamanda Garden Club of North Port, Inc is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2022 Horticulture Scholarships.
Mollie Tew of Kathleen, Florida is a senior at Florida Southern University in Lakeland, FL where she’s majoring in Citrus and Horticultural Science. She has been awarded the Valerie Ollinger Scholarship for $1,500. This award is named after long-time president, Valerie Ollinger to honor the years of service and devotion she has given to the Allamanda Garden Club and the local community.
Landon Erbrick of Gardendale, AL is a junior at Auburn University in Auburn, AL. He’s pursuing a major in Horticulture and a minor in Stewardship-based Agriculture. He has been awarded the Dianne Patterson Scholarship for $1,500. This award honors Dianne’s support for horticultural education as well as her contributions to the local community.
Applicants are judged on their aptitude in a field related to horticulture, their academic record, avocational interests, vocational potential, and character.
The Allamanda Garden Club of North Port, Florida believes in supporting education. It is today’s students who’ll be the leaders of tomorrow, ensuring the preservation of our natural resources of the planet Earth. Scholarships are awarded to college juniors or seniors in an undergraduate program as well as graduate or doctoral students.
The Allamanda Garden Club of North Port is a 501(c)3 organization. Proceeds to support scholarships are raised at an Annual English Tea Fundraiser as well as from donations made to the organization.
