DESCRIPTION:Mark your calendars for our 60th Anniversary Celebration on Thursday\, March 23rd @ 12:00 Noon. Please note the location has been changed to the Heron Creek Country Club\, 5301 Heron Creek Blvd.\, North Port. The meal will be a lovely salad bar. It will include a roll\, soup\, a nice assortment of salads\, non-alcoholic beverages\, and desserts. \nThe cost is slightly more than $25 per person\, but the board voted to cover the additional cost\, gratuity\, and the meals for the few dignitaries and scholarship winners who may attend\, possibly another 10 people\, approximately $250 to $300. \nWe must give Heron Creek a head count\, so we’re asking everyone to pay $25 for their meal at Friday’s meeting. DESCRIPTION:Join us for this very popular workshop. We will make 12 x 12 mosaic stepping stones for your garden. The paver\, glue\, grout\, glass\, and mosaic tiles will be provided. Come with a design in mind\, or you may be inspired by the examples we have on hand. \n \nThis will be a two-part workshop as the glue will need time to cure. We will grout the next day\, April 11th. \nWe will be working with silicon-based glue and colored grout\, so you may want to wear an apron or old clothes\, as we will be getting messy! Please bring disposable gloves\, like dishwashing gloves and a few old towels.\nIt is always a fun time\, and everyone always leaves with an amazing piece of artwork. The workshop is $30 for members. Go to thrift stores and look for anything that has a color\, material or shape that appeals to you.  Go with a single color\, clear glass\, a rainbow of colors\, floral designs whatever goes with your personal aesthetic. Many items will work turned upside down so get creative. \nOn the day bring whatever pieces you have found. I will also provide various dishes and vases that can be used. I will also provide the adhesives. \nEveryone is sure to have a blast so sign up soon as spaces are limited to 12 people. \nThe workshop is $25 for members. We will be making a centerpiece of three glass cylinders filled with seasonal greenery and décor and topped with a floating candle. The modern and elegant clear glass vase grouping will be a wonderful centerpiece showstopper for your holiday table. \nWe will learn how to fill the vases with clear water beads so that the holiday greenery\, pinecones\, berries\, and decorations will be suspended in place within the vase. We will top each vase with a floating candle. The three vases will be placed on a charger that everyone can decorate according to their tastes. Come join us for a relaxed\, super fun class on weaving palm fronds\, also known as boondoggles. We will focus on weaving a palm rosette and a “leaf” to create little bouquets.  All you will need to bring is a pair of scissors\, a chair\, and a costume! \nLet’s have a little Halloween fun! \nWear a COSTUME – a silly hat\, funny glasses\, or a full-blown get-up and get in FREE!! \n\nWeaving boondoggles is an old-fashioned\, traditional\, heritage craft of the southern US. Each Boondoggle can be woven from one entire palm frond of the Sabal Palm\, also known as the cabbage palm. Palm fronds have been used for centuries to create a variety of functional and decorative items. From baskets and hats to wall hangings and beach mats\, the possibilities are endless when it comes to this versatile material. \nThe workshop is FREE for members (as long as you wear a costume!) Non-members are $5 (costumes also please!!). Please sign up so I have an idea of how many people are coming. \nBecause we don’t want any tricks\, why not bring some treats to share!
