SUMMARY:Pinecone Flowers Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Let’s start the new year off with a super fun workshop where we will be making lovely and colorful pinecone flower bouquets that you will bring home and hang on your wall. \nEveryone will learn how to cut up real pinecones to make about three flowers from each one. We will then paint the “flowers” with acrylic paints and glue them onto a background in a lovely bouquet design using sticks as the stems. \nThe materials will be provided\, but please bring a chair\, glue guns\, clippers\, pruners\, and loppers. Sometimes a lopper with long handles is needed to cut through the pinecones. \nEveryone is sure to have a blast\, so sign up soon as spaces are limited to 12 people. \nThe workshop is $25 for members. Non-members are $30. Due to the limited attendance\, we are going to have to implement a No-show/cancellation policy after January 1st \, and we will not be able to issue refunds. SUMMARY:Holiday Centerpiece Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a fun and festive Christmas workshop. We will be making a centerpiece of three glass cylinders filled with seasonal greenery and décor and topped with a floating candle. The modern and elegant clear glass vase grouping will be a wonderful centerpiece showstopper for your holiday table. \nWe will learn how to fill the vases with clear water beads so that the holiday greenery\, pinecones\, berries\, and decorations will be suspended in place within the vase. We will top each vase with a floating candle. The three vases will be placed on a charger that everyone can decorate according to their tastes. All materials will be included\, but please feel free to bring greens\, tiny pine cones\, berries\, leaves\, or any other seasonal items you would like to use or share. \n  \nEveryone is sure to have a blast\, so sign up soon as spaces are limited to 12 people. \nThe workshop is $30 for members. Come join us for a relaxed\, super fun class on weaving palm fronds\, also known as boondoggles. We will focus on weaving a palm rosette and a “leaf” to create little bouquets.  All you will need to bring is a pair of scissors\, a chair\, and a costume! \nLet’s have a little Halloween fun! \nWear a COSTUME – a silly hat\, funny glasses\, or a full-blown get-up and get in FREE!! \n\nWeaving boondoggles is an old-fashioned\, traditional\, heritage craft of the southern US. Each Boondoggle can be woven from one entire palm frond of the Sabal Palm\, also known as the cabbage palm. Palm fronds have been used for centuries to create a variety of functional and decorative items. From baskets and hats to wall hangings and beach mats\, the possibilities are endless when it comes to this versatile material. \nThe workshop is FREE for members (as long as you wear a costume!) DESCRIPTION:Hypertufa Pots – Hypertufa pots are made of concrete\, perlite\, and peat moss. They’re lightweight\, containers often planted with succulents. If left in a shady\, moist environment\, they may eventually be covered in moss. \nThese pots are made to resemble natural tufa\, a very porous rock found naturally occurring in many parts of the world –      it’s particularly sought after by avid succulent and alpine growers.  \nJoin us for this workshop in Lisa’s shady side yard. Limited to 15. Wear clothes you’re not afraid of getting dirty. We’ll be playing in the mud. Attendees will be given a list of supplies they must provide. DESCRIPTION:Join us this spring for a beautiful flower arranging workshop!\nKathy Frampton\, a gifted florist and designer is going to teach us how to make this beautiful flower arrangement. Come learn how to create this arrangement that you can take home and use as your springtime centerpiece. We will supply all the flowers and the container. All you will need are some scissors or pruning shears and a chair. If you’d like to add a ribbon to your creation\, feel free to bring some along. \nThe workshop is $30 for members. Non-members are $35. Please sign up as soon as possible as space will be limited to 12 people.  Due to the limited attendance we are going to have to implement a No-show/cancellation policy after March 1st and will not be able to issue refunds. DESCRIPTION:Join the fun at the Allamanda Garden Club’s Third Annual Garden Party Scholarship Fundraiser on Friday\, February 28th at 11:30AM at the San Pedro Catholic Church. Enjoy a light lunch featuring a variety of croissants\, fruit and vegetable platters\, lovely homemade desserts\, and beverages. The event will feature a large silent raffle\, a 50/50 drawing and surprise entertainment! All proceeds go to scholarships for students pursuing a degree in agricultural\, horticultural\, or botanical sciences. The Allamanda Garden Club is a 501(c)3. This year they will award $5\,000 in scholarships. \n Guests will be seated at tables draped in lovely linens and set with beautiful dinnerware. Every table features a different theme! Wear your floral outfits to enhance the festive garden party atmosphere! \nThe silent raffle promises to be exciting and entertaining. Raffle items include stepping stones\, pottery\, paintings\, garden-related decor\, jewelry and gift certificates to local museums\, restaurants\, garden centers and cultural events. DESCRIPTION:Come join us for a super fun class on weaving palm fronds also known as boondoggles.\n \nWeaving boondoggles is an old-fashioned\, traditional\, heritage craft of the southern US. Each Boondoggle can be woven from one entire palm frond of the Sabal Palm\, also known as the cabbage palm. Palm fronds have been used for centuries to create a variety of useful and decorative items. From baskets and hats to wall hangings and beach mats\, the possibilities are endless when it comes to this versatile material. We will be learning how to weave fresh palm fronds to create beautiful and unique pieces of art. With all the palm trees around us you will be able to use your new-found skills all year round. \n \nWe will join Carrie in her garden to create our boondoggles. \nPlease bring a chair\, a beverage and a snack and we can enjoy some socializing afterwards. \n                                                Cost for this workshop is $20 for members and $25 for non-members \nNo-shows or cancellations after January 31sr will not be refunded. DESCRIPTION:January 24\, 2025 CRAFTS & DESIGNS\nARTISTIC CRAFTS \n1. “Gnomes” – A Winter Gnome made with fresh materials. No artificial.\n2. “Cracked Pots” – Plants will not be judged but should be in pristine condition. No artificial material. \nDESIGN CLASSES\n1. “Show what you grow” – Design may include plants\, veggies\, herbs\, etc. grown by the exhibitor. List on\nan index card: the plant by name with your name on the back. (Botanical name not needed)\n2. ”Fresh Start” – Design arrangement of fresh and/or dried material. Dried material can be spray painted.\nList all plant names on an index card and your name on the back. (Botanical names not needed.)\nAll designs will be staged on a 36” high table. \nHORTICULTURE\n1. Cuttings – Grower may bring whatever horticulture looks good at the time of the show\, as long as it has\nbeen in your possession for 90 days or more\, 60 days in combination plantings\, and weighs no more\nthan 20 lbs. Plants will be placed according to types\, such as bromeliads\, orchids\, succulents\, cacti\,\ncontainer-grown foliage\, container-grown flowering\, cut foliage\, cut flowering\, and dish gardens.\nGrower will have their name and the plants’ names (the botanical name is suggested) on an index card.\nBottles will be provided for cut specimens. \nRULES\nForm – Plants should be centered in the pot\, well-rounded (not one-sided) Pot should fit the size of the plant.\nFoliage – well-hydrated\, vibrant color\, healthy\, lush. No damage\, pests\, disease\, or dirt. Signs of new growth\nand pups are okay.\nFlowers – present if required.
